Astrology is for everyone. Accessibility is a top priority for us, and we are continually seeking ways to improve. We appreciate your patience while we work to create an experience that is supportive and inclusive. If you experience any problems with accessibility, or would like more information about the accessibility features currently supported in the CHANI app, please write to us at info@chani.com (iOS) or androidsupport@chani.com (Android).
Audio Transcripts
Transcripts are available for both Android and iOS users of the CHANI app. The transcript for each piece of audio content is located on the audio player page. Below the audio controls, there is a button that says “Open Transcript.” If you tap on it, a pop-up containing the transcript for the content you’re listening to will appear. iOS users can close the transcript by swiping downward, starting at the top of the pop-up. Android users can exit the transcript view by tapping the Close Modal button.
If you do not see an Open Transcript button, you may need to update to the latest version of the app. We also recommend enabling automatic app updates in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to make sure that you gain access to new and upcoming features.
Note: If you listen to Chani’s Astrology of the Week Ahead podcast via a third-party streaming service, you can click here to read transcripts for all current and past episodes.
Other Accessibility features
CHANI app (iOS)
Currently, the CHANI app (iOS) supports the following accessibility features, which are native to your device:
- VoiceOver
- Text Size
- Zoom
- Classic Invert
- The Speak Screen function in Apple’s Spoken Content feature
- Switch Control
VoiceOver
To navigate the CHANI app using VoiceOver, you can turn it on by asking Siri or opening your phone Settings and tapping Accessibility > VoiceOver and moving the slider to On. Navigating the CHANI app with VoiceOver on will change the gestures you use to control your iPhone. If you need further support, this tutorial explains how to navigate your iPhone when VoiceOver is active.
Text Size
To adjust your text size, go to your phone Settings and tap Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Larger Text. Once there, adjust the sliding controls to best meet your needs.
Note: The CHANI app supports iPad but opens in standard iPhone size by default. If this is making our text offerings difficult to read, the view can be expanded to fit the full screen of your iPad. To do this, look for the gray, circular button at the bottom right corner that depicts two arrows pointing left and right at a diagonal. This button is a toggle, so if you wish to minimize the screen size, you can do so by tapping the button again.
Zoom
To adjust your window zoom, go to your phone Settings and click on “Accessibility” followed by Zoom and moving the slider to On. Next, set the Zoom region to Window Zoom and adjust the controls to best meet your needs.
Classic Invert
This feature can be used as a temporary solution for Smart Invert or Dark Mode while we build out support for both features.
To enable Classic Invert:
- Navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size and set Classic Invert to On. Note that this may impact how other apps are displayed if you already have Dark Mode enabled, so you can toggle Classic Invert off again when done using the CHANI app.
- For your convenience, one or more of these settings can be made into an accessibility shortcut so that you can toggle them on and off by quick-pressing the Home button three times. To do this, navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut and select the feature(s) you’d like to include.
Note: Inverting colors will temporarily affect how images are displayed since Smart Invert is not yet supported in the CHANI app. Again, we appreciate your patience as we work to find a better solution for easy viewing.
Speak Screen
If you are not a VoiceOver user but wish to hear our text offerings read aloud, you can enable Apple’s Speak Screen feature by navigating to iOS Settings <> Accessibility > Spoken Content and switch Speak Screen to On. You can also adjust speech rate and select from a number of voices installed on your device. From here, swipe down with two fingers from the top of any screen to have the contents read aloud.
Note: Since Select to Speak is not yet supported, you will hear all elements announced in addition to body text. We appreciate your patience as we work to provide you a more seamless experience.
Switch Control
Based on preliminary testing, we have determined that the CHANI app (iOS) is compatible with Switch Control when using iPhone and iPad without external switches. However, if you experience any problems using the CHANI app with Switch Control, with or without an external switch, please let us know.
Below are some resources regarding Switch Control:

If you experience difficulties using the CHANI app (iOS) with any of these accessibility features, please reach out to us at info@chani.com. We’ll be happy to help you troubleshoot.

CHANI app (Android)
We wanted to get the Android app out to you as soon as possible. For this reason, we are still developing a few features. Similarly, we are working diligently to test the compatibility of the CHANI app with various Android accessibility features.
So far, we have confirmed that the TalkBack screen reading software is supported in the CHANI app for Android. We have discovered a few minor bugs with this feature and are working to resolve them.
If you do not already have TalkBack enabled on your Android device, the process can vary depending on its make, model, and OS version. You can find support documentation specific to your device by running an online search for “how to enable TalkBack on Google Pixel 7A,” for example. Here is a helpful list of TalkBack gestures.
As we are able to validate additional features, we will add information here. In the meantime, if you experience any accessibility problems, please write to us at androidsupport@chani.com.
